The path to healing is rarely linear
I’m Nadine Crowe — a licensed naturopathic physician with a general practice serving the Sea to Sky corridor. I was born and raised in Whistler, a community that inspired my love for the natural world, human potential and community. I am delighted to be back in the corridor, serving the vibrant individuals that makes this place so special.
From a young age, I was intrigued by medicine, mainly through my own healing from broken bones, traumatic brain injuries and digestive complaints. My family values collaborative medicine, and through this I was exposed to the power of having a health care team of diverse practitioners - which also planted a seed early on of one day becoming a health care provider.
I left Whistler after high school to pursue a varsity hockey career and study kinesiology at McGill university, but things didn’t pan out as expected when my concussion history diverted my course. A blessing in disguise, it lead to deeper healing and a chance to reflect on where my passion for learning lay.
To satisfy my curiosity for interdisciplinary studies while also continuing to fulfil my pre-med requirements, I went on to complete my bachelor degree at Quest University. My keystone project (similar to a final thesis) explored the concept of resiliency in community based food systems, which, seemingly unrelated to medicine, turned out to be foundational in understanding that the natural capacity for a system/community/person to evolve, promotes lasting resilience. With a deep urge to continue my studies of health, I rediscovered naturopathic medicine, this time as a curious medical student, and enrolled at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.
As part of my naturopathic training, I completed an externship at Empower Health Clinic in Vancouver and over 240 hours of preceptorship with NDs in BC and Ontario who treat populations that I am equally as passionate about serving. I have a keen interest in treating digestive disorders, nervous system dys-regulation, hormonal imbalances and traumatic brain injuries, however am committed to serving the diverse health concerns of those living in small communities.
My medical practice is based on the wisdom naturopathic philosophy and our modern understanding of how humans heal. Naturopathic doctors are equipped with a diverse tool kit, making us experts in integrative & collaborative medicine. I treat individuals by seeking to understand the factors that led to ill-health and uses therapies that intend to support the natural healing process of the whole person. I aim to provide a space for education, empowerment and holistic healing.
On my free time you can find me on the trails or in the mountains, searching for the next place for a cold water dip. I am curious at heart, and feel grateful to have found a path to lifelong learning. I look forward to joining your health care team and discovering how the naturopathic approach can act as a catalyst for your life long healing.
