Healthcare for whole person healing
Medicine that stimulates & supports the body’s ability to heal
In British Columbia, naturopathic medicine is a regulated health profession. Becoming a naturopathic physician entails 4-years of post-graduate naturopathic medical studies, which includes clinical hours, preceptorships, and North American accredited board exams.
Naturopathic doctors are uniquely placed in the medical system, as they are trained in the medical sciences of human anatomy, biochemistry, pharmacology, and pathophysiology, as well as in the healing modalities of acupuncture, botanical medicine, homeopathy, joint manipulation, counseling, and clinical nutrition - allowing them to be expert in collaborative medicine. However, what sets naturopathic medicine apart, is not so much in the tools, but in the approach. Investigations aim to find the root cause of disease, and interventions are chosen to support the healing process of the body - rather than to palliate or suppress symptoms. Naturopathic doctors adapt their protocols based on the individual patient; their vitality, genetics, and response to treatment.
